I frequently run into memory problems with PARGE - what could I do? - rese_support - 30-Sep-2014

Out of memory problems are occuring in PARGE mostly if working on 32bit Windows systems. Using a Linux/UNIX/MacOSX (ideally a 64bit system) or Windows 7 64bit improves the memory management substantially. The simplest approach to reduce the memory requirements is the reduction of the size of the image strip or by processing on a smaller output size. Current image sizes which may be processed without running into memory troubles are in a range of 1600 x 30 000 pixels. Also make sure that the used DEM is not exceeding the (spatial) size of the image by more than a factor of 2. Furthermore, PARGE offers a tiling option which reduces the memory requirements; setting the number of tiles in the final processor to at least 4 makes the processing of large data sets more efficient.
